SAMS Studio is an innovative software that supports practical programming for kids
Our goal is to make all young Nigerians learn and write programming code before the age of 16
Problems Defined
Nigeria is far behind in the technology developments when compared with developed countries of the world. Our processes and operations are over-dependent on manual processing and has allowed for poor economic growth and allowance for corruption. We need to catch up with the trends and ensure that the future generation can stand side by side in technology skills and experience like their counterparts in developed countries like United States and United Kingdom. In addition, opportunities in technology are gradually taking over from oil as more countries are adopting technology to succesfully tackle challenges. We must create opportunity for the young generation to be part of this global opportunities. SAMS offers opportunities for the young Nigerians to be able to do better than their counterparts elsewhere in the world
Challenges Ahead
However, as it stands today our school curriculum has not responded adequately to continuous technology discoveries and our teachers are not well equipped with the skills required to deliver these very important skills to the future generation. It is also unfortunate that adequate teaching aids that can support learning programming from Primary Schools to Secondary schools are either not available or too expensive to purchase especially with the fallen value of Naira. It is also impracticale to teach Primary School kids programming with tools meant for university graduates like DreamWeaver, Eclipse or Visual Studio. However, they should be able to learn programming without learning these mighty tools first. This is where SAMS Studio shines. SAMS Studio allow kids to learn the code first before worrying about tools higher than their capabilities.
Solution Supplied - SAMS Studio
SAMS Studio is the first innovative piece of software in Nigeria that has been designed to support learning 4 programming languages from Primary Schools up to Secondary Schools. SAMS Studio allows students to use their mobile devices to learn programming at their own pace without buying expensive licence products. SAMS studio also allow teachers to learn while they teach programming. Our goal is to make pupils learn and write programming code before the age of 16. This will expose them to acquire skills that is needed for their generation and to stand side by side with their counterparts around the world. In addition, we have chosen programming languages that we believe are appropriate for their age but yet very powerful. We encourage them to write practical codes in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery (JavaScript library) at their own pace.
